About Our Team and IGEM.

The Khan Lab School IGEM, known as International Genetically Engineered Machine, team was founded in 2024 in Mountain View. As a team, our goal is to bring bioengineering and lab experience and leadership skills to the students in our community. In the spirit of our host school, we aim to bring students of all ages together, lowering the age barrier to STEM education.

iGEM educates the workforce and the leaders of the Synthetic Biology industry. The iGEM Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education and competition. Beginning this summer, the KLS IGEM team will research and develop a detailed research project regarding synthetic biology to be submitted to the annual IGEM competition.
